As the New York Jets already started their training camp, early impressions on the overall maturity of the team have been very impressive. Even head coach Todd Bowles has chimed in.
It’s about that time of year where teams all across the NFL start their training camps heading into preseason football. It’s also a glorious time for football fans everywhere as they start to get a very early idea on positional battles, how recent draft picks are looking and who will survive the first waves of cuts.

For the New York Jets, spirits are high after coming off a 10-6 season that saw them get just within a game away from making an appearance in the NFL Playoffs via Wild Card berth. They were close as their season finale loss with everything on the line against the Buffalo Bills will sting the franchise until they finally start playing in games that actually matter to bouncer back.
Even though it’s just about a week and change into training camp, the Jets have so far been impressing head coach Todd Bowles. He’s undoubtedly put his thumbprint across the organization to live up to his standards of excellence thus far in his tenure. The Jets aren’t quite there yet but the hunger and anxiousness of finally ending this playoff drought is driving everyone to pick up exactly where they left off from in 2015.
The Jets had a very interesting offseason as general manager Mike Maccagnan once again delivered greatness via acquisitions, key re-signings and his solid 2016 NFL Draft class. He finally was able to land defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson the big contract extension he deserves and whether you like it or not, was able to bring back quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to the mix. It wasn’t easy but Maccagnan got it all done and is proving that he’s the perfect guy for the job in handling all these critical personnel moves.

It however remains to be seen if all this will translate to wins this upcoming season.
It’s no secret the Jets will have a tougher strength of schedule with plenty of games but by the looks of it, they’ll be ready.
With a nice cast of veterans mixed in with young talent ready to prove their worth, the Jets won’t rest until they’re back in the playoff hunt with hopefully this time around, an entry into the postseason.
Maturity as a team is important early on to focus on task at hand. Even Bowles is giving early praise for the team so far in training camp when it comes to their overall maturity as here’s what he said courtesy of the Media Relations Department of the Jets:
The maturity level, it seems like we’re a little more mature than last year. I think last year, for obvious reasons, they were feeling me out and I was feeling them out and there’s more trust going into this year – not that there wasn’t last year, but you have a little more calmness because you’ve been around them for a year and we’ve gotten to know each other pretty good, so that kind of jumped out at me. It’s a little calmer going into this camp.

Overall, this is a great look for the Jets as players do their best to be clicking on all cylinders. It won’t be easy but this team so far is shaping up to be ready for the tough opponents that await them, fully knowing they’re capable of making the upcoming season another memorable one.
