Recently, former quarterback Boomer Esiason spoke about the current state of the team and why he believes they will continue to be contenders again this upcoming season. In an article written by Alex Giaimo for NewYorkJets.com, here is what Esiason said on his popular “Boomer and Carlton” show:
“It’s unfortunate they didn’t make the playoffs last year because they were a playoff worthy team,” said the former four-time Pro Bowler. “This is a team that is in it to win it and I think as a Jets fan you have to believe that they are heading in the right direction. They’ve touched all the right buttons.”

With the focus being on the current Jets’ quarterback situation, don’t forget that they have other areas of strength on the team that will have more of an impact.
With what should be a potent rushing attack led by running back Matt Forte and an all-star cast of talent on defense, the Jets will win plenty of football games thanks to these core strengths.
The Jets are a hungry team ready to prove to the football world they have the right talent, coaching and leadership to get the job done.
No matter who is under center, the offensive system is a great one thanks to coordinator Chan Gailey who will undoubtedly ensure that even bigger things are coming. Quarterback Geno Smith is currently their best option to start and if he lives up to his potential with a much better supporting cast around him, the Jets will surprise many once again.
