For Fantasy Football, running back Matt Forte is entering a fantastic situation with the New York Jets and will make owners everywhere very happy.

This offseason, the New York Jets acquired running back Matt Forte after losing former running back Chris Ivory to free agency. Forte is coming off a season with an injury that affected his overall stats with the Chicago Bears.

Last season with the Bears, Forte totaled 898 rushing yards, 218 rushes and four touchdowns. As a receiving option, Forte totaled 389 yards, 44 receptions and three touchdowns. Always known as the “workhorse” on the Bears, a new opportunity to play in the city that never sleeps will undoubtedly revitalize Forte to put on a clinic this upcoming season.

For fantasy football owners everywhere, Forte is a solid RB2 option that should deliver consistently during key match-ups. The Jets will more than likely commit to the run due to the uncertainty in their quarterback situation.

Whether it’s quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick or Geno Smith, the Jets will use their rushing attack led by Forte to be a difference maker in football games. Expect to see Forte look like his former self in his new home and excited to prove he can still be a dominating running back at the age of 30-years-old.

More from The Jet Press

With a chip on his shoulder due to the Bears not re-signing him after he made his career there for the past eight years, he will be a force to reckon with on offense for the Jets.

Offensive coordinator Chan Gailey has a knack for making his playbook catered to the strengths of his players, as he’ll use Forte as a dual-threat weapon out of the backfield, which will double up his fantasy points nicely.

Forte has the unique skill-set to be able to rack up plenty of yards on the ground or even as a receiving option in the Jets’ spread offense.

Early expectations are that Forte will get the majority of reps as starter and also be used on key third-down situations. He’ll be able to use his speed and route running to keep defenses on their toes.
