New York Jets should focus on QB Paxton Lynch, pass-rushers at combine by Rich Cimini (ESPN)
"He’s an intriguing prospect because of his size (a shade under 6-foot-6) and skill set. He can throw and run, but he needs a lot of polish, especially with his footwork."
While many believe the Jets should draft yet another quarterback, it shouldn’t be done until the third to later rounds of the 2016 NFL Draft. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick should hopefully be re-signed soon and as long as they keep Geno Smith and Bryce Petty around, they should be fine at the position.
Jetting to Indy: 5 Combine Fast Facts by Eric Allen (NewYorkJets.com)
"It is an Indianapolis tradition. Each team’s head coach and general manager meets with the large media contingent gathered at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Jets duo of Mike Maccagnan and Todd Bowles are scheduled to head to the podium Wednesday afternoon and we’ll carry both news conferences live on NewYorkJets.com."
For the most part, the 2016 NFL Combine is a bit boring but provides a good gauge to the premier prospects ready to make the transition into the pros. Most of the time it’s used to interview top players and get an idea what kind of maturity and football IQ they have as teams prepare their scouting reports.

Antonio Cromartie: Latest News, Rumors and Speculation on Free-Agent CB by Daniel Kramer (Bleacher Report)
"Cromartie, 31, is coming off his 10th NFL season and his first in which he didn’t register an interception since his rookie campaign in 2006. He tallied at least three per season in the six years prior and led the league with 10 interceptions in 2007 while playing for the San Diego Chargers."
Cromartie will more than likely be back with the Jets but on a short-term deal that won’t command a lot of money. It’s clear he’s on the decline but would provide quality depth and leadership at cornerback for the Jets. It would make sense to at least bring him back on a one or two-year deal.
New York Jets: 5 Most Important Free Agents by Nick Ziegler (EmpireWritesBack.com)
"Heading into 2016, the Jets have a few key players that are set to be free agents, as Maccagnan and Bowles will have to make some tough decisions this offseason. Here are the five most important free agents for the Jets this offseason, as it will be interesting to see if the Jets have all five back next season."
More jets: Fixing the Jets' tight end position
The most important free agent for the Jets is easily Fitzpatrick due to his incredible success last season. To not bring him back would actually regress the Jets instead of remaining as contenders again come next season. It all starts with the quarterback as he’s crucial to their continued success for at least the next few years.
