Defensive end MW of the NY Jets underwent surgery on Wednesday for his broken leg injury. What does his future hold with Gang Green?

Last week, the Jets geared up to take the field in a game that would predict their postseason fate. Upon losing their divisional match-up against the Buffalo Bills, the Jets ended their season when they lost their Wild Card position to the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the Jets weren’t the only ones to end their season that day.

Pro Bowler Muhammad Wilkerson left last week’s game with a severe leg injury. After being helped off the field and carted off to the locker room, it was established that Wilkerson broke his right fibula and his Pro Bowl nomination would remain a dream.

Well I didn’t expect the season to end so soon and start the new year with a injury but it’s part (cont) https://t.co/x14LFtXGUy

Wilkerson is a vital part of the Jets. He was the 2011 first round draft pick, and has been making history since. Wilkerson ended this season with a career high 12 sacks in 2015.

Coach Todd Bowles stated there was no timeline on Wilkerson’s post-surgery healing however, it has been speculated that it will be at least a month.

Truth be told with the season ending for the Jets, Wilkerson has more than enough time to heal properly and bounce back before his next game.

Wilkerson enters 2016 a free agent and after a preseason battle over money, the Jets agreed to re-visit the contract after the 2015 season. Wilkerson’s injury does not seem to play a part in his free agency.

The practical outcome would be to put a franchise tag on a man that had the sixth most tackles in the NFL this season. But, the Jets are unpredictable at times and we will all just have to wait and see what the future holds for Wilkerson and the Jets.
