In Week 8 fantasy football, this was definitely one that saw a ton of major injuries hit teams and have major ramifications in the coming weeks ahead

Every week, fantasy owners spend hours researching and preparing their lineup for game day. With feelings of uncertainty, excitement and competitiveness, you eagerly await your fantasy football weekly outcome.

You sit with your eyes glued to the T.V., cell phone and computer anticipating your points going higher and higher. Your starting quarterback just completed a touchdown pass and you go insane. A feeling of victory overcomes you, and you are sure this week’s victory is in the bag!

But, you forgot one thing, this is a fantasy! Your starting quarterback was just tackled and your running back Le’Veon Bell has just been carted off the field; your heart literally skips a beat. Well, the good news is that your not the only one who had a huge upset in Week 8’s fantasy game.

Let’s take a look at the top 5 epic Week 8 fantasy football fails.

Next: 5. This Packer was packing nothing

5. James Jones

Wide receiver James Jones definitely did not show up this week on the fantasy board. This WR2/WR3 usually offers at least 10 fantasy football points however, this week depending on your league, he came in short with less than 5 points.

In Week 8’s loss to the Denver Broncos, Jones caught only 1-of-2 targets for a measly 2 yards in the fourth quarter. With two undefeated teams coming into Week 8, we knew this game was going to be fierce.

As the Packers prepare for Week 9’s match-up against the Carolina Panthers, Jones doesn’t appear to be more than a WR3 candidate. As the Panthers move to 7-0 and are looking like a fantasic team, Jones doesn’t seem promising as a fantasy football starter Week 9.

Next: 4. This Titan didn't triumph

4. Zach Mettenberger

All faith for quarterback Zach Mettenberger has been lost after this Week 8 loss to the Houston Texans. Mettenberger completed 22-of 31 passes for 171 yards this week.

Mettenberger managed to lose a fumble, was sacked 7 times, and had back-to-back turnover plays. If that wasn’t painful enough for Mettenberger to handle, he left the game with an injury during the final drive of the fourth quarter.

These statistics are embarrassing and pathetic. The Titans have made a tentative decision to call in Marcus Mariota for their Week 9 game. This means Mettenberger is definitely a sit for next Week 9’s fantasy lineup.

Next: 3. Where was this Patriot?

3. Danny Amendola

This week’s Miami Dolphins and New England Patriot blow-out seemed promising for any team member of the Patriots; unless your name is Danny Amendola. Very useful and productive for the Patriots, Amendola just doesn’t light up the fantasy football board in Week 8.

Amendola was outplayed by fellow wide receiver Brandon LaFell, having less than 40 snaps this week. Amendola caught 1-of-1 targets for only 11 yards in this week’s victory over the Dolphins.

Coming into Week 9, Amendola is power ranked in the 40’s of all NFL receivers. This WR3/WR4 doesn’t seem promising in next week’s match-up against the Washington Redskins.

Next: 2. The undefeated gets defeated

2. Aaron Rodgers

The Green Bay Packers are looking for their quarterback, because he did not show up in this tough loss to the Denver Broncos. Normally a fantasy football favorite, Aaron Rodgers averaged about 6.5 points in his weakest game this season.

Rodgers was no match-up for the Broncos’ defense. Scrambling down the field, Rodgers was sacked 3 times, completed 14-of-22 passes for only 77 yards, and fumbled once that was recovered for a safety.

We definitely saw Rodgers struggling against the mighty defensive secondary of the Broncos. Coming into his Week 9 match-up against the Carolina Panthers leaves Rodgers a QB1 despite another tough week ahead.

1. NY Jets Defense

The New York Jets lost miserably to their Week 8 match-up against the Oakland Raiders. This No. 1 ranked defensive line must have missed their flight to California, because there was nothing justifying their defensive performance this week.

The Jets defense offered NO tackles, while players like Antonio Cromartie got burnt by Andre Holmes and Michael Crabtree. The Jets also projected 4 missed tackles allowing Raiders’ running back Taiwan Jones to add 6 points to the scoreboard.

Next: It might be Bryce Petty time for the Jets

Coming into Week 9, the Jets’ defensive line has many improvements to be made. Although this top ranked defense has moved up in the rankings, next week’s match-up against the Jacksonville Jaguars and quarterback Blake Bortles seems realistic in the fantasy realm.
