NY Jets: Darrelle Revis already preparing for Patriots

The NY Jets are coming off their second consecutive win of the season over the Washington Redskins as cornerback Darrelle Revis is already preparing for their epic Week 7 showdown against the New England Patriots on the road.

When it comes to the classic AFC East rivalry between the NY Jets and New England Patriots, it’s always been quite the heated contests. From SpyGate, the butt fumble to the fact that the Patriots have owned the Jets ever since quarterback Tom Brady was a starter for over a decade now, these games have always been great.

The Jets are in a prime position to truly make probably the biggest statement of the season if they can not only hand the Patriots their first loss of the season but also earn the No. 1 spot in the AFC East after it. It won’t be easy at all, but the Jets have been known to pull some pretty big upsets over the past few years.

To be the best, you must beat the best. Luckily for the Jets, they have one of the best cornerbacks playing in the NFL that is back on their side of this heated rivalry. Cornerback Darrelle Revis earned his first Super Bowl appearance and championship thanks to the Patriots last season and is back home ready to bring one to the city that never sleeps.

Revis has already had a strong start to the season that has seen him total 3 interceptions with 12 tackles. His presence is not only one of the biggest reasons why the Jets are consistently creating turnovers but also why the Jets’ defense is considered one of the best in the NFL. Revis Island will definitely be put to the test this week as the Jets prepare for their biggest game of the season against Brady and his Patriots.

Thanks to the Media Relations Department of the Jets, here is what Revis had to say about preparing for his former team:

On preparing for next week’s game…

We’ve been playing lights out. We’ve just got to continue to make plays on defense and get the ball back to the offense for those guys to make plays. It’s always been close in this rivalry. We have our fair share of wins and they do too. It’s going to be a battle next week. They’re a team. Any team can be beat any way on any given Sunday. We’re familiar with them and they’re familiar with us. It’s going to be a great game.

Overall, this will be one heck of a game and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Jets pull off the big upset. Mark my words, Revis will be playing with a major chip on his shoulder and will absolutely bring it to the Patriots with hopes of ending their undefeated streak.
