The NY Jets are loving the impressive touchdown streak of wide receiver Eric Decker and are hoping it continues against the upcoming Washington Redskins in Week 6 action.

Redskins-Jets Preview by Sports Illustrated (SI.com)

"The Redskins will be working against a New York defense that is not only forcing turnovers, but also ranks second limiting opponents to 4.5 yards per play – and figures to get stronger this week with the return of defensive tackle . Sheldon Richardson"

This weekend will be a great one for fans of the Jets as football for Gang Green returns after a rather long bye week. Some appreciate that the Jets got a week off to let key players of the team heal up while others are concerned it might mess with their momentum. Regardless, this Week 6 matchup against the Washington Redskins will prove to be a physical matchup between two teams with much to prove. Both teams will launch a potent ground game as it’ll come down to the battles at the line of scrimmage that will see which team leaves this contest victorious.

Jets’ Todd Bowles warns against taking decimated Washington lightly by Ohm Youngmisuk (ESPN)

"“No, I don’t think so,” Bowles said of having an advantage over the decimated Redskins. “I think when you try to take people lightly, they’re going to kick your butt.”"

I’ve always believed to take games one week at a time as anything can happy on any given Sunday. I’ve seen games where underdogs came out swinging and powerhouses were kept in check due to incredible game planning and executing flawlessly. The Redskins have a ton of injuries and question marks all across the team but when a team is as hungry as they are to secure a big win on the road, it’s a game to be careful of if the Jets underestimate what they’re going up against.

7 Points: Jets Return to Work vs. Redskins by Randy Lange (NewYorkJets.com)

"Head coach has a message for any player feeling good about himself or looking ahead to New England: “We have no reason to be patting ourselves on the back. … You can go from the penthouse to the outhouse real quick.” Todd Bowles"

A part of me hopes the New England Patriots beat the Indianapolis Colts this week so the Jets can end their perfect season in Week 7. This will be the biggest test of the season for the Jets to see if they can go on the road and beat one of the best teams in the NFL. It definitely won’t be easy but something tells me if this is the scenario that plays out, the Jets have the talent and solid coaching in place to pull probably one of the biggest upsets of the season. Of course that’s next week but hey, imagine the recognition and publicity the Jets would get for pulling off such an upset?

Jets’ Eric Decker a TD machine — and he doesn’t plan to stop by Brian Lewis (New York Post)

"Every time Eric Decker has gotten on the field this year for the Jets, he has gotten into the end zone. He’s the only starting receiver in the NFL with a streak like that, and Gang Green are hoping he can extend it another week — or more."

Decker has a nice streak going that should continue against a Redskins’ defensive secondary that won’t have any answers for the Jets’ aerial attack. With key injuries to their defensive secondary, it’s expected the Jets will launch a balanced attack both on the ground and through the air. The Jets know that a streak of this magnitude is important to continue since it’ll continue putting Decker in a great position to succeed all season long with such big stats from his No. 2 receiving role.
