The NY Jets have impressed many so far with their 3-1 first quarter start but they’re handling it in a very mature way and not getting ahead of themselves.
Bowles likes Jets’ ‘mature’ approach to 3-1 start by AP News (SI.com)
"”We understand that we’ve only played one quarter of the season and all we did was get off to a good start,” Bowles said during a conference call Monday. ”We haven’t accomplished anything.”"
Quite honestly, everything that head coach Todd Bowles has been implementing across the board on the Jets has been very admirable. He dealt with a few obstacles ever since he arrived to the scene but has handled everything incredibly well.
His approach to everything is very well-receiving by the entire organization and it shows. Players are having fun yet know they are being held accountable for all the mistakes, penalties and not executing on assignments consistently. It’s definitely a much better culture across the team that what we’ve seen the past few years.
Jets’ Richardson completes suspension, due back in court by AP News (SI.com)
"A conviction for resisting arrest is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, though Richardson expressed confidence in August that he won’t face jail time – ”I really don’t think it’ll go that far, but we’ll see.”"
With a tougher slate games coming up after the Jets’ bye week, it’s imperative that the Jets field the best team possible. Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson will return in Week 6 from his suspension against the upcoming Washington Redskins.
Richardson will more than likely want to redeem himself after the incident he was involved in during the off-season. A great way would be to get acclimated to the Jets’ defensive playbook as soon as possible and really put on a performance. He should have a field day against the Redskins and come back to prove his worth.
New York Jets Thankful For An Early Bye Week by David Wyatt (GangGreenNation.com)
"However this year, the Jets are hurting early. With only four games having been played, the bye week is coming at the perfect moment. To be effective, the Jets need all their offensive weapons on the field, that’s been highlighted over the last two weeks."
Injuries are a part of any NFL season and the Jets are already dealing with key ones heading into their bye week. It’s a great opportunity to give guys like Eric Decker, Chris Ivory, Darrelle Revis and Leonard Williams just to name a few some days off to heal up.
The Jets took care of business during the first quarter of the season and should be at least a little proud of the work they put in with the results they got. It’s not perfect and they have much to work on to clean up the tackling, penalties and offensive miscues but all considering, their 3-1 record is a great way to start this season.
Jets Happy with Their Start but Not Satisfied by Jamir Howerton (NewYorkJets.com)
"“We’re growing together. I think everybody is starting to realize we can become a good team, but we have to cut out a lot of mistakes ahead and we have a long haul to go and it’s not going to happen overnight,” Bowles said. “But the guys are getting a lot more confident.”"
One can never be satisfied when it comes to a team that although has a 3-1 record, has blatant issues with tackling and racking up too many unnecessary penalties. It’s great to see the Jets aren’t satisfied because they’ve been sloppy all across the board.
A win is a win in my book and I can only imagine how great this team would actually be if they fixed all the issues. They should have annihilated the Miami Dolphins but still gave them some easy opportunities to get back into this game. Hopefully they hit the film room and truly study up on how to improve in those key areas of weakness to course correct for future games.
