NY Jets: Can they beat the Dolphins?

The NY Jets must beat the Miami Dolphins if they are to be considered contenders this season.

The million dollar question this week for the Jets is can they beat the Dolphins? In short? Of course they can; the Jets face another team in disarray this week in the Dolphins and will look to get some momentum entering their Week 5 bye week. The only difference is the Jets will be playing this Dolphins team across the pond in London.

This will be the Jets first AFC East divisional contest of the season; sitting at 2-1 the football year is still in its infancy and the team still has everything in front of them. For the Dolphins, they stare at the possibility of starting 0-2 in the division and a 1-3 hole heading into their bye with question marks about their head coach surviving the rest of the season.

To be frank? The Jets lost an ugly game to the Eagles and it’d be easy to lose some of the team morale, but head coach Todd Bowles won’t accept that. Here was his message to the team after the game via the Media Relations Department of the Jets:

“It’s a long season. They played better than us. Give the Eagles credit. They came in here to play. We played hard but just didn’t play smart at times. We didn’t make enough plays, but it’s a long season. The same way we won two games, we were not going to get too high, and when we lose one game, we’re not going to get too low. We’re going to correct mistakes, figure it out this week and move on.”

Week 3 is over and the Jets have moved on to the Dolphins; they’ve made corrections and they’ll be ready come Sunday. The interesting story-lines to watch out for in this game will be how do the Jets react to the 5 time zone difference as they’ve never experienced this and the Dolphins have been a mainstay in London over the last several years.

This will be our first time seeing a team led by Bowles after a loss and will show does the team respond. Can they come out to a hot-start as opposed to last week’s performance? That’ll be key in who wins this game, whoever is able to come out pedal to the medal can control the tempo of the game and take an important AFC East win into their bye-week.
