New York Jets: Darrelle Revis discusses return to team

facebooktwitterreddit

The return of cornerback Darrelle Revis to the New York Jets became a reality in 2015 after the team made sure to bring their star defender back into the mix during free agency. Revis had a solid game against the Cleveland Browns that saw him total 4 tackles including a fumble recovery for the Jets.

What did Revis think about the slow start to the game and his return to Gang Green? Thanks to the Media Relations Department of the Jets, they sent us here at The Jet Press the full conversation he had with reports about the entire experience. Enjoy!

On the defense’s start to the game…

We wanted to play physical and aggressive. I felt we started off a little bit slow today, especially in the first quarter, the first drive. They moved the ball pretty well, (Josh) McCown did and he had us on our heels. We finally kind of settled down and started making plays. One thing for us, I say coming out of this game is at the start of the game we need to start a little faster.

On Calvin Pryor’s forced fumble at the goal line…

That was a big momentum change in the game, especially them driving during that time. McCown tried to scramble and tried to dive into the end zone and Calvin made a great play. So, that was a big momentum shift for us.

On whether it felt like old times with the defense forcing turnovers…

Yeah. Our biggest thing as a defense, one of our main characteristics is to create turnovers and that’s what we’ve been trying to do. You saw it a little bit during the preseason, our four games. Today’s game, we played pretty well. We got a lot of sacks, a lot of pressures and we got the ball a lot when we needed to and guys made great plays. That’s one of the things that we want to continue to harp on I think as a defense and try to stay consistent with.
