New York Jets vs Detroit Lions Preview: Preseason Week 1
In Preseason Week 1 action, the New York Jets vs Detroit Lions will take place on Thursday, August 13th, 2015. Both teams are looking to kickoff their respective seasons in hopes of starting a new campaign with major success. The Jets last season posted a 4-12 record as the Lions posted an 11-5 record while clinching a Wild Card berth.
The Jets are heading into this game trying to focus more on football than incidents that have hit the team faster than a New York minute. Quarterback Geno Smith had his jaw broken at the hands of a teammate and is out for 6-10 weeks. On the other side of the football, the Jets’ defense will look to pave the way to be one of the best in the NFL heading into the regular season.

The Lions are coming off a solid year that saw them make the NFL Playoffs. While their Super Bowl hopes ended early, they will look to pickup exactly where they left off this time around.
With the departure of Ndamukong Suh via free agency, the Lions’ defense will look different but striving to live without one of their cornerstones on defense.
Both teams played against each other last season that saw the Lions win 24-17. The Jets had one of the worst defensive secondaries in the NFL and paid dearly for it all season long. This upcoming season however, the Jets will have a much-improved secondary with Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie leading the charge once again.
