New York Jets: Darrelle Revis excited for scrimmage game
The New York Jets spent top dollar this off season in upgrading their team all across the board. One of their top acquisitions was cornerback Darrelle Revis who returned to the team that originally drafted him back in 2007.
We were at The Jet Press would like to thank the Media Relations Department for sending us the entire transcript featuring Revis talking about various topics so far during training camp and addressing the hot topic of if he’s the best cornerback of all-time:

On how training camp is going…
It’s training camp right now, you’re going to have some bad days, some days it’s not going well or looking too good and some days you’re doing well. On the days you’re not doing well, you just try to make the corrections the best you can and just try to get better.
On Brandon Marshall calling him the best cornerback of all time…
It’s a great compliment from Brandon. I played against him throughout my whole career. We’ve had our battles. He’s won some battles when we played against each other in the past and I’ve won some. I think it’s just a mutual respect that we have for each other. And now we’re teammates. I never thought we would be teammates in my wildest dreams. Now we get to compete against each other. I’m glad he’s on my team. I don’t have to look across the huddle and see that it’s Brandon Marshall.
On being put in the same category as Deion (Sanders)…
It’s an honor. I mean I don’t even really have that many words for it. It’s an honor and I appreciate it. People seeing your body of work and what you’ve done. I’ve still got a long ways to go and at the same time I think I just have to continue to what I’ve been doing. It’s just work my butt off like, I’ve always been doing and continue to have an open mind to the game and be an open book to it and absorb up all the information I can
On how he compares himself to Sanders…
I don’t really look at that. Other people have their opinions on it and that’s how you go about it. I respect Deion a lot. I always will respect him. He’s done his career a little bit flashier than other corners. I think he put a lot of charisma in the cornerback position. Other guys do it certain ways and he did it his way. There’s other cornerbacks today doing it their way. We have our own way of doing it.
On how much he looks at stats comparing himself to other guys…
I’ve seen one, I think it was me and Deion, one of his years and one of my years. That’s the only one I’ve seen. I haven’t really looked at Rod Woodson’s or Champ Bailey’s stats or anybody else’s, it was one with me and Deion. I don’t know the stats and what they were. I don’t know his year, but I think my year was 2009 or something like that.
On what makes Marshall so difficult to defend…
He is so intelligent as a receiver, he’s very smart. He knows how to get open. He knows how to use his body, he knows how to use his strength and his size. If there could be another Megatron, it would be him. I would put those two, him and Calvin Johnson in the same category of big, tall receivers, 6-5, 230+ and can run like a skill player. I’ll just say that. He’s very intelligent, he understands the game and he’s very smart at what he does best.

On how excited he is going back to MetLife Stadium for the first time as a Jet at the Green & White Practice…
I’m taking it one day at a time. It’s a couple days away, I’m not going to get too high on it. I think the only thing for us as a team is to continue to improve and get better. I know it’s going to be a little bit more to it because it’s the Green & White practice. It will be more pressure for certain guys but at the same time, I think as a whole, collectively we just go out there and continue to compete and play and improve as a team.
On whether he thinks the situation in New England will end soon or drag on…
We’ll see. Everywhere you look, on every media feed it’s talking about the New England Patriots and about the Deflategate situation with Tom Brady. We’ll see how it plays out. It’s very interesting what’s going on right now and we’ll see how the NFL handles it and then we’ll see how New England and Tom Brady handle it.
On whether he is surprised that the league upheld Tom Brady’s suspension…
Am I surprised? No, I’m not surprised. If you look at some of the other situations around the league, the Ray Rice incident, the Adrian Peterson incident. You know Roger (Goodell) gives his ruling or suspension first and usually they don’t get overturned after appeal. He gives his suspensions out and that’s it.
