With the 2015 NFL Draft in the books, the New York Jets have so far had a magical offseason. They’ve tremendously turned their team from pretenders to contenders and had a pretty solid draft to boot. Who is the best draft pick of the Jets that will not only immediately contribute this season but for years to come?

To start things off, the Jets got one of the top defensive players in this year’s draft in defensive end Leonard Williams. It will be scary to think what kind of impact he will have with the already incredible defensive line the Jets have. The Jets truly had Lady Luck on their side since nobody predicted he would have dropped to their spot at No. 6 in the draft order.

Then you have in the 2nd Round, wide receiver Devin Smith, a speedy wide receiver out of Ohio State. In his collegiate career, he contributed 2,503 yards on 121 receptions for 30 touchdowns. His 20.7 yards per catch will translate very well to a Jets’ offense that was in need of a natural born play-maker.

In the 3rd Round, the Jets went for a positional player in Lorenzo Mauldin that can cover any position at linebacker. Looks like the Jets wanted to bolster their linebacker corps by adding some quality depth into the mix.

Is the best draft pick of the Jets actually quarterback Bryce Petty? The Jets haven’t had a stable answer at quarterback in years as the sky is the limit to the potential that Petty brings to the Jets and his future with the team. The Jets may very well have found their future franchise quarterback in Petty who can be molded to such a role over the next few years.

The Jets also added some depth for their offensive and defensive lines respectively in offensive guard Jarvis Harrison and defensive tackle Deon Simon. It’s always good to bring athletes in that can help win the battle of the trenches.
