Mandatory Credit: Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports Time for the final weekly report card grades for the Jets, following their win yesterday afternoon over the Dolphins, 37-24. Let’s get to it:

QUARTERBACK: A- Geno Smith did have the one fumble that cost the Jets a touchdown. It was typical Geno, not taking care of the football, and costing the Jets points.

However, he was so good in all other phases of his game, the grade stays in the “A” range. He had a near perfect rating, missed only five out of 25 passes, threw for 358 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.

RUNNING BACKS: C- The Jets running backs, surprisingly enough, had a very pedestrian performance yesterday. The leading rusher was Chris Ivory, with 29 yards on 13 carries. Ivory did post his first receiving touchdown, however, but fell 13 yards short of his career best. Other than the Chris Owusu end-around, nothing much was happening on the ground for the Jets.

WIDE RECEIVERS AND TIGHT ENDS: B Eric Decker had the game of the year for the Jets. With 221 yards on ten catches, he fell seven yards short of the team record of 228 yards in a game, set by Don Maynard. It’s going to be fun to watch Eric Decker as the years go by.

Nobody else excelled, the next highest catch total was Jace Amaro with three. But all in all, the group played well.

OFFENSIVE LINE: C The offensive line was great in the passing game, only allowing Geno Smith to be sacked once. But, the Jets got nothing going on the ground so that brings the grade back down.

DEFENSIVE LINE: B Going to give the guys up front a “B”, because they didn’t make a huge impact. Sheldon Richardson posted a sack, and Muhammad Wilkerson posted 1/2 of a sack, but nobody made a huge amount of tackles along the defensive line, so that minimizes the grade.

LINEBACKERS: A Going to give this group the star among the Jets defenders, mainly because of their impact on the pass rush. Between David Harris, Demario Davis, and Quinton Coples, 5.5 out of seven sacks were accounted for.

DEFENSIVE BACKS: C It was an average day for a very average group on the Jets roster. Ryan Tannehill was able to spread the wealth well between his wide receivers while going 23-39 for 259 yards and one touchdown.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B Chris Owuso returned two kicks, one of them going for 87 yards. Nick Folk posted 13 points, going 3-4 on his field goal kicks. Ryan Quigley was average with the punting, but he made a perfect pass to Zach Sudfeld to extend the game clinching drive.
