New York Jets: Owner Woody Johnson Ready to Make Changes
By Alan Schechter
Woody Johnson is not a happy owner, and he has good reason. He wants to bring Jets fans a Super Bowl, and now he is forced to watch his team go down in flames with a 2-11 record. It was not what Woody Johnson, along with the rest of us, expected, and he is fed up.
While at the NFL meetings in Dallas, Johnson spoke to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News regarding the status of his team leadership, and their performance thus far in 2014. Johnson seems ready to make changes, despite being fond of his head coach, Rex Ryan:
“It’s not a question of fondness,” Johnson said. “I’ve always thought he’s a very good coach. He’s an excellent coach, excellent teacher. The fans are going to want to see something different. They’re not going to let us get along and I don’t want to do exactly the same thing. So it’s going to be either the way we coach or the way we approach it. It could be with the same people. It might be with different people. That’s the case each and every year.”
It is not that Johnson has decided to make the move, but he is ready to make any move necessary, which will be music to the ears of all Jets fans.

Johnson summed it all up by saying the following:
“It’s safe to say you got to do things differently that you did to get you to this point,” he said. “The thing about football is that after every season, everybody is up for grabs. You take a look at everything. You’re trying to get to the Super Bowl. It doesn’t sound like I should even be saying that at this point. But that’s what my goal is. That’s what the fans want. They want to have a clear direction in terms of how they get to where they want to go. I have to give them confidence they are going to have a chance to get where they want to go.”
The odds that Rex Ryan and John Idzik return together are quite slim, we all know that. Woody Johnson seems to know that, even though he obviously won’t give away what he is thinking just yet. What changes will be made? We have just over three weeks to go until we find out.
