The New York Jets take on their rivals, the Miami Dolphins, on Monday Night Football in Week 13. No matter the records the two teams play competitive games. The Dolphins are 6-5 and in the playoff hunt while the Jets are 2-9 and playing the spoiler role. Can the Jets keep the Dolphins out of the playoffs like they did last year? I spoke with Brian Miller of Phin Phanatic, the Dolphins’ Fansided site, and got his thoughts about the Dolphins and Monday night’s game.

Question 1 – How would you describe Ryan Tannehill’s development this season? Do you consider him a franchise quarterback at this point?

It’s hard to say right now. The Dolphins will have a huge decision to make this off-season regarding his fifth year option. He has made tremendous strides but is it enough to bank your future on with a huge contract? I honestly don’t know and I don’t think the team does either.

Question 2 – What has made the Dolphins defense one of the league’s best?

The team has a well-rounded defense. They are stout in the secondary behind Brent Grimes and boast a very fast defensive front line. This year they got a lot of production from their linebackers that was supposed to be a weak spot. Coaching has been questionable and I think the defense would benefit from a more aggressive coach, maybe Rex Ryan next year as the team’s defensive coordinator.

Question 3 – What, if any, are the key injuries for the Dolphins coming into Monday night’s game?

Cortland Finnegan is questionable again with an ankle injury and with the injury to Jamar Taylor it’s ugly at that corner spot. There are also questions along the offensive line that could be problematic but for now there are no real injury concerns at the moment.

Question 4 – What is your favorite Jets-Dolphins moment from the rivalry?

There are a lot of them. Both wins and losses. I remember the comeback win by the Jets and of course the fake spike game as well. I think my favorite game though was the one two years ago in New York when the Dolphins finally made Fireman Ed quit going to the games…LOL. I also liked the final game that Brett Favre played for you as well when we knocked you out of the playoffs…sadly there are so many other games that the outcome was opposite.

Question 5 – What is your prediction for the game?

I think it’s going to be a tough game as the Jets and Dolphins usually play each other pretty well. I don’t think the Jets will win this one and the Dolphins will have over 1,000 fans in one section in what is called the MetLife Takeover put on by our friends at DolfansNYC.com.  I am more concerned about the season finale.
