Here are some reactions from Jets players and coaches following today’s win over the Steelers. First we have coach Ryan talking about the young cornerbacks that faced the hottest QB in the league, Ben Roethlisberger:

The 80-yarder was a little upsetting, to be honest with you, but those two guys (Marcus Williams and Phillip Adams) competed their tails off. They really did. They showed it on the practice field. I thought Phil had great coverage on the one, but apparently, when they guy went back and made the catch (Martavis Bryant) – a CIemson product…I hope my son is half that good and that tall, he’s got a chance to grow….but really, that’s the way it worked. Those two kids worked, and so has (Josh) Thomas. He’s working hard. Kyle’s (Wilson) doing a great job over there. It finally paid off for us.

Here is Jets guard Willie Colon on getting a win despite the distractions:

We’re going to continue to stick together. We understand that our play, at times, has been subpar. We haven’t given the fans much to cheer for. We haven’t done our jobs on Sunday. Each and every Sunday, you have to give your best shot. We stuck together and had a good game and did a bunch of good things. We were able to come out and move the ball like we wanted to and we were able to come out with a victory.

Coach Ryan had mentioned that his quarterbacks aren’t protected as much as other team’s quarterbacks. Here are Michael Vick‘s thoughts on the subject:

I guess he may say that because we run more than other quarterbacks. I think when you’re in the pocket, and even when you are outside of the pocket, the rules are the rules. They shouldn’t be able to be broken for anybody. But there was a time when I was on the sideline without my helmet, and I just hope that they will go back and take a closer look at that. I’m not asking for anything. I’m not asking for more calls than another guy. Everybody has a job to do and I think it should be done. I play this game, I want to protect myself. I know I put myself in harm’s way and that is the way I play, but I try to protect myself as well. Sometimes I need the refs to protect me too.
