Enjoy your morning cup of coffee with the latest news and updates on the New York Jets. Looks like a new mock draft has them taking safety Malik Hooker out of Ohio State.

The 2017 NFL Draft is almost upon us as the New York Jets will do their very best to have a successful draft class when all is said and done. It won’t be easy but general manager Mike Maccagnan will undoubtedly be drinking lots of coffee for those long nights at One Jets Drive getting ready to bring in young new talent to turn this team into contenders again.

Below are the latest news and updates from top sources on the internet on the Jets. These go great with a hot cup of Hazelnut coffee but if you don’t have that, a regular cup will do just the trick.

In an article written by John B. of Gang Green Nation, he breaks down a new mock draft that has the Jets select safety Malik Hooker out of Ohio State. For the most part, the general consensus is that the Jets will address their lack of talent in their defensive secondary by using their No. 6 overall pick on a cornerback or safety. Hooker would be a great acquisition by the Jets as he has the talent to be a Week 1 starter.

In another article written by John B. of Gang Green Nation, he posted the official preseason schedule of the Jets. You know you miss football when a preseason schedule gets one excited but at the end of the day, it just means that our favorite sport will be back in no time. Out of the four teams, the Jets will be playing, the “Snoopy Bowl” in Week 3 will be the most entertaining against the New York Giants. Especially now that wide receiver Brandon Marshall traded in his green and white uniform for a blue one.

In an article written by Nick Ziegler for Empire Writes Back, he also wrote about the biggest need for the Jets being their safety position. Even though the Jets have one big question mark at quarterback, it’s imperative they draft a new defensive back or two that will be a force to reckon with. Too many times last season the defensive secondary of the Jets got torched as drafting a premier defensive back should help bring some aggression and success back to the positional group.

Finally, in an article written by Alan Schechter for NFL Spin Zone, he breaks down why this is a make-or-break season for defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson. With that hefty new contract he got just a year ago, it’s time to live up to his true potential in a season many expect the Jets to barely win more than a handful of games. While he was injured and played hurt last season, it’s important that Wilkerson puts up a monster year to put him back into the long-term plans for the future. Otherwise, the Jets will have no other choice but to cut him and save the money they wanted to invest in him.
