It is game week once again for the New York Jets. The Jets head to Buffalo to take on the Bills to complete the season series. We have talked a lot over the past several days about how the Jets have shown signs of life, and truly aren’t as far off the mark as their record would make it seem.

Let’s look at three keys for the Jets, to make the final six games reasonably successful.

Michael Vick is obviously going to need to play well. The Jets have finally had some consistent, if not outstanding, quarterback play, over their last two games. The numbers have not been “exciting”, but you know what? Vick has been solid, with a passer rating of over 100 in each of his two starts. This consistent play must continue.

It is not a coincidence that the Jets have improved their play with the increased involvement of Percy Harvin.Eric Decker and Chris Ivory have been good, and Jeremy Kerley is a solid overall player, but the Jets finally have a legitimate multi-functional threat in Harvin. Harvin has posted 193 yards on offense over the last two games, and that doesn’t include his return yards.

Percy Harvin must continue to play well for the Jets to make a good showing over the last six games.

More from Jets News

The Jets defensive backs have had their moments. OK, they have had a lot of moments, as they have been very bad. Heck, I think the Jets have cornerbacks that might have been flipping burgers before John Idzik offered them a contract. But last week, we got a huge game from Jaiquawn Jarrett. He was all over the field against the Steelers, with two interceptions and one sack.

The Jets cornerbacks will very likely continue to have difficulty with opposing wide receivers. These guys are working hard, but they are a bit limited in the talent department. The Jets are going to have to use a lot of Cover 2, and get some strong performances down the stretch from the safety position. If these corners are on an island without help, the Jets don’t stand a chance.
