My New York Jets 53 man Roster Prediction

facebooktwitterreddit

John Idzik and co will have to make some tough roster cuts in the upcoming weeks

QB’s- 1. Geno Smith, 2. Mike Vick, 3. Matt SimmsAnalysis- If I was running the show, I would only keep Smith and Vick, but I feel that with Vick’s health issues in the past, the Jets may play it safe and keep Simms as a backup. Look for rookie Tajh Boyd to find himself on the practice squad.

RB’s- 4. Chris Ivory, 5. Chris Johnson, 6. Bilal Powell, 7. Daryl RichardsonAnalysis- One of the strongest units on the entire roster. I expect the Jets to keep four running backs, which allows Richardson to find his way onto the roster. All four have been impressive during the preseason.

FB- 8. Tommy BohanonAnalysis- No surprise here. Bohanon will be the FB.

WR’s- 9. Eric Decker, 10. David Nelson, 11. Jeremy Kerley, 12. Jalen Saunders, 13. Greg Salas, 14. Stephen Hill, 15. Saalim HakimAnalysis- This is going to be a tough position to figure out for the Jets. I think the Jets give Hill one more season to prove himself. While he has had a nice training camp, he has not done much in the preseason games. Look for Quincy Enunwa to end up on the Jets practice squad. Hakim makes it for his special teams ability.

TE’s- 16. Jeff Cumberland, 17. Jace Amaro, 18. Zach SudfeldAnalysis- No surprises here. A young group, who is only going to improve.

OL- 19. D’Brickashaw Ferguson, 20. Brian Winters, 21. Nick Mangold, 22. Willie Colon, 23. Breno Giacomini, 24. Oday Aboushi, 25. Dalton Freeman, 26. Dakota DozierAnalysis – Maybe Ben Ijalana sticks here as well, but this group is pretty much set.

DL- 27. Muhammad Wilkerson, 28. Sheldon Richardson, 29. Damon Harrison, 30. Kenrick Ellis, 31. Leger DouzableAnalysis- TJ Barnes deserves to make this team, but I wonder if there is enough room. This line is loaded.

LB’s- 32. Quinton Coples, 33. David Harris, 34. Demario Davis, 35. Calvin Pace, 36. Jason Babin, 37. Nick Bellore, 38. Garrett McInytre, 39. IK EnemkpaliAnalysis- I expect Antwan Barnes to start off on PUP, giving IK a chance to make an impact early on. Bellore makes it for his special teams ability. I would not be shocked to see rookie Trevor Reilly on the team as well.

CB’s- 40. Dee Milliner, 41. Dimitri Patterson, 42. Kyle Wilson, 43. Darrin Walls, 44. Ellis Lankster, 45. Johnny PatrickAnalysis- The biggest question mark on the roster. In a surprise, I think Patrick sticks to provide nice depth.

SS/FS- 46. Antonio Allen, 47. Calvin Pryor, 48. Dawan Landry, 49. Jaiquawn Jarrett, 50. Rontez MilesAnalysis- I like Miles sticking over Bush due to his ability to play special teams. Miles has been impressive in training camp.

ST- 51. Nick Folk, 52. Ryan Quigley, 53. Tanner PurdumAnalysis- No surprises here.

There is no doubt that Jets General Manager John Idzik will have to make some very difficult decisions in regards to making out the 53 man roster. This is the deepest Jets team in the last couple of years, so they will ultimately be cutting some good football players. While this is what I think the roster will look like, what do you think? Will certainly be interesting to see as the Jets need to make cuts by Tuesday.
