The New York Jets may have lost yet another close game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they fell to 0-3 on the season, but this 29-27 loss was nearly a miraculous comeback victory that was defined by a tremendous special teams play from pass rusher Will McDonald.

McDonald leaped over the line to block a Chase McLaughlin field goal that would have made this a 29-20 ballgame, running it back for a touchdown to put the Jets up 27-26. The Jets would watch McLaughlin nail a game-winner, but that doesn't make the play any less memorable.

The best part about this play is the fact that those who remember McDonald's pre-draft hype were well aware of the fact that his making a play like this was a matter of when, not if. His athletic gifts were always leading him towards making a highlight-reel play like this.

McDonald became famous in the pre-draft process after multiple videos of him jumping over cars emerged on social media. In the same way in which he surmounted a moving vehicle, McDonald has now cleared NFL linemen in a clutch situation.

McDonald has not recorded a sack since taking down Aaron Rodgers twice in the season opener, but he has been an ever-present force that can get into the backfield with ease. McDonald remains the team's best edge rusher and the best overall pass rusher on the team, with no one challenging him.

McDonald's athleticism has always been his calling card, as his ability to explode off the line and bend his body in unusual ways has helped him pile up the sacks. In an unexpected (to some) twist, McDonald has been one of the team's most impactful special teamers as well.

For McDonald to take the next step from good to great, he needs to work on his run defense, which has constantly been well below average throughout his time with the Jets. Even a slight improvement in this area would do wonders for this group and this franchise as a whole.

At the very least, McDonald seems like a player who is going to challenge for double-digit sacks every single year while becoming such a force on special teams that every field goal unit in the league needs to be very keenly aware of where No. 9 is lining up at all times.
