Who are the announcers and referees for NY Jets vs. Patriots today?
By Justin Fried
The NY Jets enter their Week 8 matchup with the New England Patriots in desperate need of a win following their fourth consecutive loss a week ago, one in which they were embarrassed on national television again.
The Jets traded for Davante Adams and will now see the return of Haason Reddick in today's game, but at 2-5, they're fighting to keep their season alive. In fact, the Jets haven't won a game since the last time they played the Patriots all the way back in Week 3.
New England is also riding their own losing streak, having lost six straight games after a surprising Week 1 victory. Rookie quarterback Drake Maye has helped provide a sense of optimism to a team that remains one of the worst in the NFL.
The Jets need a win to keep their postseason hopes alive. Unfortunately for Jets fans watching, they may not love the announcers and referees assigned to this week's game. We can explain.
Announcers for NY Jets vs. Patriots
- Network: CBS
- Play-by-Play: Spero Dedes
- Analyst: Adam Archuleta
- Sideline: Aditi Kinkhabwala
The Jets are back on CBS for the first time since Week 4, and after four straight losses, they have been relegated to one of the supposed lower-tier CBS announcer duos. Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta will be on the call for today's game.
Dedes, a former radio announcer for the New York Knicks, has been calling games with Archuleta since the 2017 season, save for a two-year stint where he was paired with Jay Feely. Archuleta is a former NFL safety who has been calling games for CBS since 2013.
Referees for NY Jets vs. Patriots
- Crew Chief: Craig Wrolstad
- Umpire: Steve Woods
- Down Judge: Danny Short
- Line Judge: Brett Bergman
- Field Judge: Jeff Shears
- Side Judge: Frank Steratore
- Back Judge: Rich Martinez
- Replay Official: Gavin Anderson
- Replay Assistant: Ken Hall
The head referee for today's Jets-Patriots game is Craig Wrolstad, who is entering his 22nd season as an NFL official and his 11th as a crew chief. Wrolstad's crew has thrown the fourth-most flags and has accumulated the fourth-most penalty yards in 2024.
The Jets unfortunately know one of the members of this crew very well. Side judge Frank Steratore, the cousin of longtime NFL officials Gene and Tony Steratore, was involved in an infamous call against the Jets last season.
Steratore, a rookie official in 2023, is the individual who called the controversial holding penalty on Sauce Gardner in the Jets-Chiefs game last season that wiped out a potentially game-sealing Michael Carter II interception. However, Alex Kemp was the crew chief for that game, not Wrolstad.
