Week 1 showed the Jets' offensive line could take them farther than people think

The New York Jets cruised to a 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1. From start to finish, the Jets were the best team on the field, and that shouldn't shock fans. Especially since the offensive line flat-out dominated the Titans' front.

By all accounts, the offensive line was discussed as the strength of this roster, and Week 1 gave a glimpse of how dominant they can be.

New York's offensive line has the ceiling to be a top-five unit this year, and if they play how they did against Tennessee, the Jets will go farther than most people believe.

Week 1 showed the NFL how good the New York Jets offensive line can be

In the win over the Titans, New York finished with 367 total yards, 152 rushing yards, and a staggering 38:46 time of possession. They were able to consistently move the Titans in the run game and also kept Geno Smith upright all game.

Following the contest, Smith raved about the Jets OL. He applauded them, saying he believed he wasn't touched all game, per The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt. And from Smith's stat line, he was right. He finished going 19-of-24 for 215 yards. He also had an NFL-best 11.5 big-time throw percentage to go with zero turnover-worthy plays.

The Jets offense stayed on schedule the entire game. Breece Hall had 102 rushing yards, while Braelon Allen added 40 rushing yards. New York consistently opened up holes in the ground game and didn't allow pressure to get home.

That combination of things is top-notch and displays how this front five can play when they are at their best. The tackle duo of Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou is the best they have had in a while. Joe Tippmann is another building block upfront, while Josh Myers and newcomer Dylan Parham were more than solid along the interior.

The Titans are one of the worst teams New York will play this season, but that defensive front still had Jeffery Simmons and John Franklin-Myers out there. Both guys are good players but were non-existent in this outing.

It's no secret that the Jets want to be a physical team. With how effective the offensive line looked in Week 1, fans should be excited about the possibility of this unit. Many people don't expect the Jets to be good this year.

That's probably how the Jets want it to be anyway. Stay under the radar and keep building toward success behind closed doors. If the offensive line reaches its ceiling in 2026, New York will be a much better team than people think.

Ball control football and a relentless ground game work against any team. If the Jets can do that consistently, they will be in every game. New York has far more talent than they did last year, especially on offense, and that was shown in Week 1.

It's a long season, with 16 more games left. A lot can change, but what the offensive line did was beyond impressive. If they play to that standard, New York will be a feisty and annoying team to deal with in 2026.
