The area is currently under a severe thunderstorm warning with a flood watch in effect until 10 p.m. local time, right in the heart of game time. Field conditions could be slick, footing could be an issue, and both teams may be forced to adjust their game plans on the fly.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told reporters this week that the team will be playing its entire healthy starting lineup in tonight's preseason opener, set to begin at 8 pm ET.

The goal is to give Fields and the rest of the starters some live reps in the Jets’ new offensive and defensive systems. Given the offense's struggles at times this summer, it’s likely a wise decision.

That said, with the looming threat of heavy rain and a flood watch in effect, it’s fair to wonder if Glenn and the Jets might rethink their approach. Poor weather conditions like this increase the risk of injury, and that might be enough to scale back how much the starters see the field.

Even if the starters do suit up as planned, the conditions could force a more conservative game plan. Expect fewer deep shots, a heavier emphasis on the run game, and maybe some quick-hit passes to limit exposure.

It might not be the ideal showcase for the Jets’ new-look offense, but it could still serve as a valuable test of discipline and execution in adverse conditions. It also helps that the Jets are already expected to lean on their ground game in 2025.

A run-heavy approach would not only fit the conditions at Lambeau tonight, but also give the team an early chance to showcase what could be the focal point of their offense this season.
