The New York Jets have undergone a lot of change this offseason as the Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey experiment began. Their first decree was letting go of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, but this was just the tip of the iceberg in terms of roster reconstruction.
Now, with just days until the season begins, the Jets are still faced with several holes on their roster. Obviously, the team can not sew up every concern in just a few months, but the wide receiver corps, especially, leaves something to be desired.
Outside of Garrett Wilson, there are no top-flight pass-catchers currently on the Jets' roster. Josh Reynolds and Allen Lazard are middling depth pieces, and Xavier Gipson is a fine special-teams player, but none of them will truly move the needle for Justin Fields and the offense.
Jets should trade for disgruntled Raiders WR Jakobi Meyers
One option recently became available, as Las Vegas Raiders star wideout Jakobi Meyers requested a trade last week. ESPN's Rich Cimini believes that the Jets could be a logical landing spot for the 28-year-old player.
"One receiver who might be available is Jakobi Meyers, who reportedly wants the Las Vegas Raiders to trade him. Jets passing game coordinator Scott Turner, a Las Vegas Raiders assistant the previous two seasons, spoke glowingly of Meyers last December: 'I tell people all the time, he's one of my favorite players that I've ever coached.'"Rich Cimini
While it is true that Meyers has a rapport with Scott Turner and he is an ascending receiver in the league, a move like this may give Jets fans a bit of pause. The last time the team traded for a disgruntled Raiders wideout in Davante Adams, things did not go according to plan.

Instead, despite some solid production, Rodgers and Adams were on the outside looking in this offseason. The Jets effectively gave up a third-round pick for a half-season rental, which turned into Geno Smith for the Raiders.
Meyers did record a career-best 1,027 receiving yards last season, and he accomplished this despite Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell, and Desmond Ridder throwing him the ball. He would be a valuable asset for Fields and the offense, but based on history, it comes with some hesitations.
The Jets do have ample mid-round picks to pry Meyers from Las Vegas and salary cap space to potentially appease him with a contract extension upon his arrival. Just because things did not work out with Adams does not mean they couldn't with Meyers.
