In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss the NY Jets' free-agent signings, players the Jets lost in free agency, and additional moves the Jets can still make in free agency. It's the free agency special!
Justin and Mike were joined by Mike Giarraputo this week to break down all things Jets free agency. The show started with a discussion about the players the Jets have already signed, most notably quarterback Justin Fields.
All three of the show hosts were optimistic about the Fields signing, agreeing that he was the team's best bridge option in free agency. There were some reservations about what a realistic expectation for him in 2025 should look like, but the consensus was that the Jets made the right decision.
The same optimism wasn't shared about the Brandon Stephens signing. The former Baltimore Ravens cornerback received the most criticism of any of the Jets' free-agent signings to this point.
Justin, Mike, and Mike also discussed the Jets' decision to re-sign Jamien Sherwood and what that could mean for Quincy Williams' future. Will the Jets extend Williams? Could he request a trade this offseason? It's a very interesting situation to monitor.
The conversation then shifted to an analysis of every former Jets player who has signed elsewhere this offseason. We discussed the ridiculous Javon Kinlaw contract and Zach Wilson signing with the Miami Dolphins at length.
Finally, Justin, Mike, and Mike took a look at a few moves the Jets can still make to upgrade this roster in free agency. Note that this was recorded before the additions of Chukwuma Okorafor and Josh Myers and the re-signing of Isaiah Oliver later on Wednesday.
