In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano break down the New York Jets' depth chart post-draft, analyze the team's undrafted free agent signings, and discuss Jordan Travis' surprise retirement.
The show started with a discussion about Jordan Travis' tragic retirement announcement. The 2024 fifth-round pick announced on Wednesday that he intends to retire from the NFL as a result of the serious leg injury he suffered during his senior year at Florida State.
Travis' sudden departure leaves the Jets with four quarterbacks on their roster entering the summer. What will the room look like behind Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor? Which of Adrian Martinez or Brady Cook has a better chance of winning the QB3 job?
That led into a full-show breakdown of what the Jets' depth chart looks like following the 2025 NFL Draft. Justin and Mike went position by position and analyzed the entire Jets' roster.
While the offensive line looks like a strength, the same can't be said about the team's wide receiver room. Which back-of-the-roster players could push the likes of Malachi Corley, Xavier Gipson, etc. for roster spots?
Justin and Mike also discussed what the Jets' running back room might look like in 2025. Mike was more confident in Breece Hall's ability to remain the unquestioned RB1, while Justin had some question marks about his future entering this season.
The team's defensive line also comes with plenty of questions left unanswered. The Jets didn't really address their defensive line much in the draft, outside of the fifth-round selection of Miami's Tyler Baron.
What should Jets fans expect from the defensive line in 2025? Which young players and undrafted rookies have a chance to push for a spot on the team?
Justin and Mike later discussed the team's linebacker room, the potential role of Miami's Francisco Mauigoa, and the uncertain future of Quincy Williams. What might the Jets' linebacker depth chart look like this season and in 2026?
