In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss Justin Fields and his return from injury, the Nick Folk reunion tour, Jets players taking shots at Robert Saleh, and the biggest New York Jets training camp stars.
The show started with a discussion about the Justin Fields injury scare from a week ago. Both Justin and Mike expressed a sigh of relief while breaking down how the injury could impact his plans for both training camp and the preseason. How much will he play this summer?
The conversation then shifted to a celebration of the return of Nick Folk. Folk rejoins the Jets after nearly a decade away and will compete with UFL standout Harrison Mevis for the kicker job. There are reasons to be optimistic about the Jets' kicker situation again.
Players and fans alike have quickly warmed up to new head coach Aaron Glenn this summer, and it's become abundantly clear how many on the roster are excited about the changes underway in Florham Park.
The likes of Alijah Vera-Tucker, Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and others have all taken subtle jabs at Robert Saleh and the previous regime when speaking about Glenn's newfound accountability. We discussed these recent comments and the early differences between Saleh and Glenn.
Finally, Justin and Mike took a look at a few of the biggest standouts from the first week-and-a-half of Jets training camp. On the defensive side of the ball, rookies Malachi Moore and Payton Page have quickly made an impact and are pushing for larger roles.
Moore has an opportunity to push Tony Adams for a starting safety spot while Page, a 2025 UDFA, is hoping to carve out a role on the 53-man roster and in the defensive line rotation.
On offense, rookie tight end Mason Taylor has started to develop excellent chemistry with Fields, while second-year running back Braelon Allen has emerged as the obvious RB2 behind Breece Hall. Both Taylor and Allen figure to be key parts of the Jets' offense in 2025.
