In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano break down every notable position battle on the New York Jets' roster on the first day of training camp. From running back to wide receiver to defensive line, all battles were covered.

The show started with a discussion about the Jets' running back room and how the touches will be divided this season. Is Breece Hall still the unquestioned RB1? Will one of Braelon Allen or Isaiah Davis emerge as legitimate threats?

Next, Justin and Mike took a look at the Jets' wide receiver room as a whole. 2024 third-round pick Malachi Corley is off to a rough start this summer, but how secure is his roster spot? Can someone like Tyler Johnson make an impact this season? What about rookie Arian Smith?

The conversation then shifted to the offensive line, specifically the battle for the starting center job between Joe Tippmann and Josh Myers. Both Justin and Mike bemoaned how silly it was that this is even being labeled a "competition." Tippmann should be the Week 1 center.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Jets' defensive line is thinner than it's been in years. Guys like rookie Tyler Baron, Rashad Weaver, Micheal Clemons, etc., are competing for spots in a razor-thin defensive end room.

Meanwhile, the battle for the second defensive tackle spot alongside Quinnen Williams is wide open. Leonard Taylor III might have the highest upside, but is he a legitimate candidate to start? What about the likes of Derrick Nnadi, Byron Cowart, and Jay Tufele?

Perhaps the most overlooked position battle will be the competition for the Jets' third linebacker spot behind Quincy Williams and Jamien Sherwood. Could rookie Francisco Mauigoa carve out an early role on defense, or will someone like former Washington first-round pick Jamin Davis step up instead?

Finally, Justin and Mike discussed the Jets' secondary, more specifically their cornerback room. Brandon Stephens is penciled in as the Week 1 starter opposite Sauce Gardner, but could Azareye'h Thomas give him a run for his money at some point? It's certainly possible.
