In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano answer your New York Jets questions in our first community mailbag show! Those questions ranged from draft scenarios to mid-round quarterbacks to Kenyon Sadiq and much more.
The show started with a brief discussion about the Jets bringing in Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson for a private workout this Friday. Simpson is very much on the Jets' radar, but how much stock should fans put into this week's meeting? Is Simpson in play at No. 16 overall?
The remainder of the show was dedicated to our first-ever The Jet Press community mailbag, featuring fan-submitted questions. If you want to submit a question for our next mailbag episode, be sure to follow us on X (formerly Twitter) for future updates.
The first two questions pertained to some recent drama surrounding one fan's opinion of Breece Hall on X (formerly Twitter). Justin and Mike poked fun at this hilariously toxic take with some lighthearted banter before getting into the real questions.
We discussed one user's question about potential wide receiver targets the Jets could explore on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft in the scenario the team selects Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq at No. 16 overall. Among those mentioned were Notre Dame's Malachi Fields and Alabama's Germie Bernard.
Another question asked about potential scenarios where the Jets would opt to retain Darren Mougey entering 2027, while parting ways with Aaron Glenn. Both Justin and Mike agreed that Glenn's defense might be the deciding factor.
From there, we moved on to discuss potential mid-round quarterback targets for the Jets, with a focus on Penn State's Drew Allar. Other quarterbacks discussed included Baylor's Sawyer Robertson, North Dakota State's Cole Payton, and Arkansas' Taylen Green.
We also gave our opinions on a couple of hot takes related to the Jets' 2026 record and the leaguewide reputation of Garrett Wilson. Could Wilson be a top-three wide receiver next season? We offered our takes!
Other questions answered related to the possibility of Rueben Bain falling all the way to pick 16, the Jets' backup offensive line options, and even who the next Jets player to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame might be. Every submitted question was answered!
