In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss the New York Jets' Jarvis Brownlee trade, the Quincy Williams injury, and the team's upcoming Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
It's been a busy week for the Jets, and our show started with a discussion about the biggest move of them all, the team's acquisition of Jarvis Brownlee. The Jets traded for Brownlee in a swap of late Day 3 draft picks on Tuesday, adding a young, starting-caliber piece to their secondary.
Brownlee has started 16 of a possible 19 games for Tennessee over the last two seasons and is fantastic value for a Jets team whose secondary has underperformed so far this year.
Justin and Mike broke down the trade, what it could mean for the Jets' secondary, and how Brownlee might impact the futures of both Brandon Stephens and Michael Carter II. The writing seems to be on the wall for Carter, specifically.
The Jets also received some unfortunate injury news this week, as star linebacker Quincy Williams was placed on the injured reserve with a shoulder injury and will miss at least the next four games. The team also placed linebacker Marcelino McCrary-Ball on the IR with a hamstring injury.
That means the Jets lost two of their top three linebackers in Sunday's loss. Rookie Francisco Mauigoa will have a golden opportunity to prove his worth, but what does the rest of the Jets' linebacker room look like?
The Gang Green Stat Machine segment was next, as Justin and Mike took a look at a few concerning statistics regarding the Jets. Michael Carter II has been one of the worst nickel cornerbacks in the NFL in 2025, and we tied his concerning numbers into the conversation about Brownlee.
The Jets' defensive end room might be the worst in the league, and it's not just the depth. Will McDonald is proving to be a major liability as well. The Jets desperately need Jermaine Johnson back for their Week 4 game against the Miami Dolphins.
Speaking of that Week 4 game, Justin and Mike previewed that matchup and offered differing predictions for the result. While Mike is projecting another loss, Justin was a bit more optimistic with his thoughts. The Jets need a victory in the worst way.
