In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss the NY Jets' decision to move on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers and explore potential replacements. Justin and Mike are joined by special guest Mike Giarraputo.
Justin, Mike, and Mike began the show with a heated discussion about the Jets' decision to move on from Aaron Rodgers. Fried and Giarraputo believe that the Jets made the right decision while Luciano was a bit more skeptical of the decision.
Fried argued that Rodgers was not a good enough quarterback in 2024 to justify the baggage required to run it back one more year with the future Hall of Famer.
That baggage includes but is not limited to the financial ramifications, his potential scheme fit in the Jets' new offensive system, his age, his injury history, and his influence over the organization.
Luciano believes that the Jets need to win games to instill a new culture and that Rodgers gives the Jets the best chance to compete in 2025 — a chance that the likes of Kirk Cousins, Justin Fields, Tyrod Taylor, and others likely don't provide.
The discussion got heated fast as Fried, Giarraputo, and Luciano debated the Rodgers decision and whether it was best for the organization moving forward or not. You're not going to want to miss this conversation.
The second half of the show included all three hosts making a pitch for who could be Rodgers' replacement in 2025. Cousins, Fields, and Jameis Winston were all among the names included in the discussion.
How many games would the Jets win with Cousins, Fields, or Winston in 2025? Who is the team's best option to compete? All of that was broken down.
