The NY Jets finally decided to feature third-round rookie Malachi Corley more in the offense during their Thursday Night Football duel against CJ Stroud and the Houston Texans. It took them all of one touch to regret this move, as Corley managed to screw up what should have been a great moment for him.

Corley's second career NFL touch was an end-around that found paydirt and put the Jets up 7-0. At least...it did before the officials took a long look at the play. Corley had a touchdown gift-wrapped, and then he simply dropped the ball before he made it to the end zone, which gave the Texans the ball back.

Corley's goof became the subject of internet mockery the likes of which only Jets fans can claim to have seen before. Even when everything is going right, the Jets managed to step on a rake and smack themselves in the face in the most humiliating way possible.

Just as sites all across social media were starting to celebrate the Western Kentucky product for his first NFL touchdown, Corley instead made such a fatal error that many are wondering if he will ever get any snaps for the remainder of the season. These mistakes can't happen.

The Jets are already in for a Halloween nightmare against a Texans team that has played equally poor football. The Jets could have put their foot on Houston's throat, but they instead decided to let them take control of this game by wiping a touchdown off the board.

Even in the history of recent Jets lore, this season is officially beyond the pale. Throwing away walk-in touchdowns is something not even the Adam Gase teams would do, yet Corley managed to spoil what should have been a life-defining moment.

This move left the announcers completely dumbfounded as to what exactly Corley was thinking. Looking cool apparently takes precedence over scoring a touchdown for the youngster, who has made it explicitly clear why players like Irv Charles and Xavier Gipson have managed to leapfrog the Deebo Samuel clone on the depth chart.

Even in what has become a lost season, it seems unlikely that the Jets would go back to Corley after a blunder like that. His status with the team is now in question, as that could be the defining play of his young career.
