Just to add insult to injury...

Sauce Garnder is officially an Indianapolis Colt, getting sent over to the NFC powerhouse in exchange for two first round picks and AD Mitchell. This trade already has potential to go down as one of the most shocking in New York Jets history, and certainly the most shocking trade to get done at this year's deadline.

Gardner's agent and brother, Allante Gardner, told ESPN's Rich Cimini after the shocking move that while Gardner understands that this was a business decision, he also sees this as a great opportunity for his All-Pro brother.

Winning football is not at all what's happening at MetLife for the rest of this season. So, it's understandable that the team is looking to load up on draft capital now and saw Garnder as a great means to that end. But, it has to sting that Gardner's own family can see the writing on the wall as it pertained to his future in New York, and as it pertained to the team playing winning ball anytime soon.

Gardner survived multiple head coaching and defensive coordinator changes, as well as multiple general manager hirings and firings. He's seen numerous quarterbacks walk through the doors that haven't panned out, and a 20-39 record over the last four seasons that he's been a part of the team. It was time for a change of scenery, to be sure.

Gardner isn't the only winning player that's been shipped out of New York in order to gain future draft capital today. Quinnen Williams, another cornerstone of the Jets' defense for the last several years, was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a first round pick "and more," per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The Cowboys land a star for their defensive line, while the Jets, again, just keep stacking up on picks.

What they plan to do with those picks seems obvious: the team is, again, hungry for a franchise quarterback to develop in their building under new head coach Aaron Glenn, and the 2026 NFL Draft presents an opportunity to snag one. Fernando Mendoza out of Indiana University feels like the most obvious target for the team right now.

Additionally, the team has to get more WR help in the building so that his talent doesn't fall flat. This is a draft chock full of wide receivers who should be taken in the first round, like Jordyn Tyson out of Arizona State University, Denzel Boston out of Washington, or Carnell Tate out of The Ohio State University.
