When the Seattle Seahawks took on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, it's safe to say most New York Jets fans were pulling for the NFC representative Seahawks to get the win.
Of course, Jets fans didn't want to see the Patriots win yet another Super Bowl in the 21st century, but it was also easy to root for Seattle thanks to their quarterback, Sam Darnold.
The Jets' No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft has been nothing but positive about the team that drafted him since leaving New York, and it's made fans want to continue rooting for him despite playing for opposing teams.
Darnold's latest comments will continue to endear him to Jets fans, as it still sounds like he regrets how his time in New York played out.
Sam Darnold wanted to win Super Bowls with the Jets
On a recent episode of the Bussin' With the Boys podcast, Darnold was asked about his time with the Jets and revealed how he wished things had played out.
"I think the dream as a player is like, you want to stay with the same franchise for your whole career. Maybe, maybe not, but at least that's what I was kind of thinking. Like, even if we were trash in New York, I wanted to go and make it right. Like I wanted to go, you know, win Super Bowls in New York with the Jets. Obviously, that didn't happen. It wasn't in the stars for me, but like, that's what I wanted, you know, that was the dream."Sam Darnold
Jets fans, too, wanted to see Darnold win Super Bowls in New York, but everyone remembers how those first three years played out.
Darnold wasn't the quarterback he is today during his early days with the Jets, but New York didn't do him any favors either.
He never got the support from the front office and coaching staff he desperately needed. Darnold's best weapon was Jamison Crowder, and he had practically no offensive line in front of him.
It should be no surprise that when he got to a better situation with the Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings, he thrived.
Now, Darnold is coming off a Super Bowl victory and gearing up to go after a second ring. The Jets, meanwhile, are still struggling to put a winner on the field.
