Only one NY Jets player placed in the top-50 of NFL player merchandise sales. Can you guess who it is? You probably guessed it: Zach Wilson.

Wilson was never going to beat the likes of Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes in jersey sales, but he still made the top-50 of all NFL players.

According to the NFL Players Association player sales list, which reports sales of all officially licensed NFL player merchandise from Mar. 1 through Nov. 30 of the 2021 season, Wilson ranked 43rd overall.

Brady and Mahomes placed first and second (no surprise there), and of all the quarterbacks in the league, Wilson admittedly ranked near the bottom. He did beat out Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, among others.

We were crossing our fingers for Elijah Moore or perhaps Michael Carter to make the list, but given their fledgling rookie statuses, we get why fans may not have jumped on the bandwagon too early.

Wilson breaking the top-50 suggests mild optimism for becoming a fan-favorite in the future, though. After a rough start to the 2021 season, Wilson cleaned up his game, throwing for 2,334 total yards with nine touchdowns against 11 interceptions and a pass completion rate of 55.6 percent.

Hopefully, the franchise turnaround that the Cincinnati Bengals experienced this past season can happen for the Jets, who are primed to field an even better squad in 2022.

With plenty of draft capital and available cap space, what Robert Saleh and the Jets front office choose to do this offseason could change the organization for good.

In 2022, we wouldn't be surprised to see Wilson's jersey sales placing top-25 in the league, and we hope other Jets players can keep him company up there too.
