Which jerseys are the NY Jets wearing tonight on MNF vs. 49ers?
By Justin Fried
The NY Jets are set to kick off their 2024 season when they travel across the country to Santa Clara, CA to take on the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football in Week 1.
Aaron Rodgers will make his long-awaited return to the field against a team that snubbed him in the draft nearly 20 years ago, and he'll do so almost a year to the day of his unfortunate torn Achilles in 2023.
To add to the storybook return, Rodgers will once again be under the bright lights of Monday Night Football — the same setting of his Jets debut a year ago. One thing will be different, however.
The Jets wore their classic throwback legacy uniforms in their Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills in 2023. This year, those "legacy" uniforms have been made the team's permanent jersey set.
Tonight marks the official regular-season debut of the Jets' new uniform set in what the team hopes is a fresh start for the entire organization. But which specific jerseys will the Jets be wearing tonight?
Which jerseys are the NY Jets wearing in Week 1 vs 49ers?
The Jets are starting their 2024 season and kicking off the "legacy" era with white jerseys and green pants. They'll also be rocking green socks for this game. Some have affectionately (or not-so-affectionately?) called this the "Peter Griffin combo.
This will also be the Jets' first regular-season game with their new throwback Jets logo. That logo will be proudly represented on the team's matte green helmet.
Jets fans have been demanding a uniform overhaul ever since the team introduced their much-maligned "Take Flight" jerseys in 2019. Those uniforms will forever be associated with the stink of the Adam Gase, Sam Darnold, and Zach Wilson eras.
The Jets are hoping that this new uniform set will be associated with a new era of Jets football, one that will hopefully produce more wins. Tonight is the start of that era.
