Travon Walker is a best-case scenario for the NY Jets in the 2022 NFL Draft

The NY Jets appear to be in an unusual position entering the 2022 NFL Draft. While the team does not hold any singular pick as valuable as last season's No. 2 overall pick (used to select Zach Wilson), they do possess two of the top-10 selections (4 and 10 overall).

Unlike the 2021 scenario, which had a grand prize of universal No. 1 selection Trevor Lawrence, the 2022 NFL Draft appears void of a consensus top talent.

Pro Football Focus has Michigan edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson as the top player on their big board. Bleacher Report has Oregon pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux as their top player. Tankathon has gone with Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal, while Walter Football is chiming in with Travon Walker as their top player.

It would be no surprise to see any of these top talents get selected as the first player off the board. In fact, players like Ikem Ekwonu, Kyle Hamilton, or even Drake London could easily be considered for this honor.

So how does all of this affect the Jets? It could prove to be quite valuable. The lack of a clear No. 1 prospect opens the door for New York to land one of the players in the top tier.

While this draft could play out a number of different ways, the Jets could easily find themselves in the position to draft Travon Walker, who I and many others believe to be the top asset in the draft, without moving from their No. 4 slot. This is the absolute dream scenario for Gang Green.
