This ludicrous Breece Hall stat shows just how historically great he is

The NY Jets have one of the best running backs in the NFL in Breece Hall, and the former second-round pick displayed just how important he is to his team's offense in Week 16.

The Jets pulled off a 30-28 victory over the Washington Commanders this past Sunday due in large part to Hall's impressive performance. Hall finished the game with 20 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns while adding a whopping 12 catches for 96 yards in the air.

It's incredibly rare for a running back to put up a stat line like that, and for Hall, it wasn't even the first time he's done it. The former Iowa State star totaled 97 rushing yards and 100 receing yards in just his fifth NFL game last season.

Hall is now one of only six players in NFL history to record multiple games of at least 95 rushing yards and 95 receiving yards. He's tied with the likes of Priest Holmes, Brian Westbrook, Larry Brown, and Thurman Thomas, trailing only the great Walter Payton, who has three games with that stat line.

Mind you, Hall has played just 22 games in the NFL. All of those other guys appeared in more than 100 games.

Breece Hall is a historically great dual-threat running back

Despite the Jets' offensive struggles this season, Hall has proven to be one of the most dynamic and complete running backs in the NFL. He's rushed for 732 yards and four touchdowns on a healthy 4.2 yards per carry behind one of the worst offensive lines in recent NFL history.

It's not just what he's done on the ground, however. Hall leads all running backs with 537 receiving yards this season. He trails only Alvin Kamara in catches, although Kamara does have more targets than his younger counterpart.

Hall is one of the NFL's elite pass-catching running backs, and he's only getting better. His 84.2 Pro Football Focus receiving grade in 2023 is second only to MVP candidate Christian McCaffrey among qualified running backs. One can only imagine the numbers Hall would be putting up in a competent offense.

The fact that he's doing all of this in his first year back from a torn ACL (while he was limited early in the season) makes it even more impressive.

This Jets offense runs through Hall and fellow young star Garrett Wilson. 31 of the team's 45 targets on Sunday were to either Hall or Wilson. Throw in Hall's 20 carries, and it's clear that he was the focal point of the Jets' offensive gameplan.

Breece Hall is one of the best running backs in the NFL, and he's already approaching historical numbers from a pass-catching perspective. Despite the Jets' offensive woes, Hall has proven to be worth his weight in gold.
