In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss what's going on with Zach Wilson, why Dalvin Cook should be benched, some of the Jets' biggest surprise standouts, and offer a preview of this week's Denver Broncos game.
Wilson put together what was likely the best performance of his NFL career in the Jets' 23-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. While the Jets lost, Wilson essentially saved his NFL career in the process.
The former No. 2 overall pick set new career highs in completions, completion percentage, and NFL passer rating, as the Jets' offense looked competent for the first time in a long while.
What happened? Did it suddenly click for Wilson? How much credit does offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett deserve for Wilson and the offense's success? We broke it all down.
While the Jets' offense was much improved in Week 4, the same can't be said about veteran running back Dalvin Cook. Cook has arguably been the league's worst running back through four weeks. Meanwhile, Breece Hall has statistically been the best.
Justin and Mike discuss why it's time to bench Cook in favor of rookie Israel Abanikanda. Cook just isn't close to the player he once was in his prime.
The conversation then shifted to some of the biggest surprise standouts for the Jets through four weeks. Players such as Quincy Williams, Joe Tippmann, Allen Lazard, and Bryce Huff all earned shoutouts.
Finally, Justin and Mike previewed the Jets' upcoming Week 5 game against the Denver Broncos. Will the Jets emerge victorious in a must-win game against their newfound rivals? Justin and Mike certainly believe it's possible.
