The Jet Press Podcast: Tarik Cohen signing, OTAs notes, ranking best NY Jets players
- Jets sign Tarik Cohen!
- Other notes from OTAs
- Drafting the best players on the Jets' roster
By Justin Fried
In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss the Tarik Cohen signing, some notes from NY Jets OTAs, and rank the best players on the Jets' roster via a standard snake draft.
The episode started with a discussion about the Jets' addition of former All-Pro return man and Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen. Cohen joins an inexperienced running back room, but he should really have an opportunity to shine on special teams.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh spoke highly of Cohen's potential as a returner, insisting that he would compete with Xavier Gipson for the role. Does Cohen have a legitimate shot to make the 53-man roster? We discussed that and why Jets fans should be rooting hard for Cohen this summer.
Justin and Mike then briefly discussed a few notes from Jets OTAs to this point. That included reports of Allen Lazard struggling, Will McDonald and Eric Watts impressing, and rookie running back Braelon Allen standout out on Wednesday.
Lazard's struggles are notable and were one of the biggest talking points coming out of Wednesday's practice. Meanwhile, Carter Warren had a tough time containing McDonald and Watts.
Finally, the show ended with a draft-style ranking of the best players on the Jets' roster. Justin and Mike each took turns drafting players to complete their five-player Jets roster. Who was the No. 1 overall pick? Which host ended up with a better team? You be the judge of that.
