The Jet Press Podcast: Ryan Tannehill rumors, Derek Carr watch continues
By Justin Fried
In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discussed the recent rumors surrounding Ryan Tannehill and the Jets and broke down the team's decision to hire former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing.
Downing was hired this week to be the Jets' new passing game coordinator, sparking rumors that the team could target Tannehill this offseason. Is Tannehill a feasible option? Does he make sense for the Jets? Is Downing a good hire? All of that was discussed in this episode.
Justin and Mike also talked about the latest happenings with the recently-released Derek Carr. Which teams could pose the biggest threat to the Jets in their potential pursuit of Carr? More importantly, how interested as the Jets in Carr?
As this is a discussion about the Jets' offseason quarterback plans, the topic of Aaron Rodgers, of course, came up as well. Rodgers is set to begin his darkness retreat at the end of the week, which means the Jets should have a better idea of his 2023 plans by next week.
How does the Rodgers situation impact Carr? Would Carr want to take his time to make a decision because of Rodgers' uncertain status? How should the Jets manage everything?
Finally, Justin and Mike both provided a player to watch on Day 2 of the 2023 NFL Draft. Justin identified Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson as a potential target for the Jets while Mike highlighted speedy Nebraska wide receiver Trey Palmer.
