In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano react live to the Mecole Hardman trade, detail things the NY Jets need to change, and give out some bye week awards to a host of Jets players.
The Jets only made wide receiver transactions on Wednesday afternoons — that's clearly the rule. Elijah Moore was traded live during an episode of The Jet Press Podcast. Denzel Mims was "released" moments before we went live. Corey Davis retired two minutes into a recording.
This week, the Jets traded Mecole Hardman about 15 minutes into our latest episode of the podcast, prompting an immediate reaction and analysis of the move.
Why did the Jets trade Hardman? Was this inevitable? What does this mean for the Jets moving forward? Justin and Mike break down the trade and discuss if the Jets should add a wide receiver before the deadline later this month.
The first planned conversation of the episode was a discussion about changes the Jets need to make after their bye week. From benching Randall Cobb to seeing less of Carl Lawson, a few suggestions were made.
Finally, Justin and Mike introduced the first-ever The Jet Press Podcast Award Show (name still pending). Awards were given to a number of Jets players for their contributions (or lack thereof) this season.
Who are the Jets' MVP and LVP so far in 2023? What about the team's most improved player? Who received the first annual "Get This Guy Off My Team" award? Plenty of Jets players and coaches were recognized.
