In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano discuss the Denzel Mims trade, the Quinnen Williams extension, position battles to watch this summer, and the most overrated and underrated players on the NY Jets roster.

The big news of the day was the report that the Jets planned to waive Mims if they were unable to reach a trade agreement with another team. Later that night, the Jets reportedly agreed to a trade that sent Mims to the Detroit Lions alongside a swap of conditional 2025 sixth and seventh-round picks.

Justin and Mike discuss where it all went wrong for Mims and what the future might hold for him. Note that this was recorded before the news of Mims' trade became official.

The next topic of discussion was the massive four-year, $96 million extension that Quinnen Williams was handed by the Jets last week. Seeing as this was our first show since the news of the extension became official, we decided a celebration was in order.

The Jets extended a homegrown franchise cornerstone as Williams became just the third homegrown drafted player since Muhammad Wilkerson to receive a multi-year extension from the team.

With training camp officially kicking off on Wednesday, it only made sense to talk about potential position battles for the Jets this summer. From wide receiver to the offensive line, Justin and Mike broke down a number of roster competitions to keep an eye on.

Finally, Justin and Mike dove in and discussed a few of the most overrated and underrated players on the Jets' roster. While Mike believes C.J. Mosley is a bit overrated, Justin identified Allen Lazard as someone who fits that criteria.

As for the underrated players, Mike highlighted veteran left tackle Duane Brown, while Justin shouted out Michael Carter II and John Franklin-Myers as two key cogs in the Jets' defense.
