In the latest episode of The Jet Press Podcast, Justin Fried and Mike Luciano provide their full report card grades for the NY Jets' 2023 season and discuss some Jets coach drama and press conference takeaways.
The conversation began with a discussion about some of the key takeaways from the Jets' end-of-season press conference on Monday. The likes of Robert Saleh, Joe Douglas, Aaron Rodgers, and others all met with the media to discuss the 2023 season and the upcoming offseason.
Some of Douglas' comments, in particular, didn't sit well with Justin and Mike, who criticized the Jets GM for his lack of accountability. Douglas claimed that some moves only looked bad with the benefit of hindsight, but many of his poor decisions were seen as questionable at the time.
Justin and Mike criticized Douglas for his comments about Dalvin Cook and the backup quarterback position while also highlighting Douglas' insistence that the Jets will likely add a veteran backup QB this offseason.
Jets offensive line coach Keith Carter has come under fire in recent days following additional comments made by multiple Jets players and others who previously played under Carter elsewhere. The real question is, how is this man still employed by an NFL team?
Justin and Mike also discuss the possibility of former Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy joining the Jets' coaching staff following his departure from Chicago. His close personal friendship with Aaron Rodgers could land him in New York.
Finally, Justin and Mike went through the Jets roster, coaching staff, and front office and provided their grades for the 2023 season. Which position groups graded out the highest? Which parts of the team received failing grades? There's only one way to find out.
