Steve Young admits he was wrong about NY Jets QB Zach Wilson
By Justin Fried
You'd be hard-pressed to find a stauncher supporter of NY Jets quarterback Zach Wilson over the last couple of years than former BYU QB and NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young.
Young, a fellow BYU alumnus, has defended Wilson from criticism and remained optimistic about his future despite his persistent struggles. Even after Wilson's disastrous performances earlier in the year, Young refused to sour on the second-year QB and insisted the Jets should continue to start him.
But Young's mindset has finally changed. Even Steve Young himself is ready to admit he was wrong about Zach Wilson.
Young joined The Michael Kay Show on Monday to speak about Wilson and the Jets and he openly admitted that he was wrong about the Jets playing Wilson.
"I was wrong. He can't play right now."

Steve Young has finally soured on NY Jets quarterback Zach Wilson
Young admitted that there's no way the Jets can continue to play Wilson and that the team has seemingly rallied around Mike White, much more so than they ever did Wilson.
He did insist that, as we've seen, White doesn't solve all of the Jets' issues. They still fell short against both the Buffalo Bills and Minnesota Vikings with White under center. The QB position hasn't been the only issue with the team over the course of this losing streak.
That said, it's impossible for anyone to argue that Wilson should remain the starter at this stage. If Steve Young is saying it, it's hard to imagine there's anyone out there who still believes Wilson should be the starter.
White is set to return from injury in Week 17 in what will be a must-win game for Gang Green. The Jets need to win their final two games against the Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins to give themselves a realistic chance at making the playoffs.
If the Jets win out, they're in good shape, needing only one New England Patriots loss. But winning out is easier said than done, even with White replacing Wilson in the starting lineup.
As for Wilson's future, that remains unclear. What is clear, however, is that Wilson will not be seeing the field for the remainder of the season, barring numerous injuries.
And he very well may have played his final game as a member of the Jets. Even Steve Young is willing to admit that.
