Wednesday, June 7, officially marked four years since Joe Douglas took over as the NY Jets general manager back in 2019, and while the team is yet to make it back to the playoffs, there's no doubt that this is a franchise that's in a much better place under his leadership.

Now, it appears this is a team that's ready to make a massive leap back into the playoffs in 2023, and while there's plenty of credit to go around the organization, it's safe to say that Douglas has been exactly what this success-starved fan base has been searching for.

So, on the fourth anniversary of the Jets hiring their current GM, let's take a walk down memory lane and look at the 10 best moves this organization has made during the Joe Douglas era.

10. The NY Jets seemingly solved their kicker problem

While this may not seem like the biggest deal, the Jets were struggling for years to find their kicker, with the team using no less than seven kickers between 2019 and 2021, but last offseason, he fixed all of that when he landed veteran Greg Zuerlein.

In 2022, Zuerlein converted on 30-of-37 field goals and 28-of-29 extra point attempts, and while he's not considered one of the elite kickers in the NFL, the Jets finally have some consistency at the position — something they've coveted since the days of Jason Myers.

9. The NY Jets have constructed a solid tight end group

Unsurprisingly, given how many years of struggles the Jets had before Joe Douglas arrived, many of their position groups struggled to stand out, but none more so than the tight end room, which failed to find a successful name since their last successful run with Dustin Keller.

While the Jets certainly don't have a name on the level of Travis Kelce, George Kittle, or Mark Andrews, they've got two capable leaders in Tyler Conklin and C.J. Uzomah. And with the potential of Jeremy Ruckert and Zack Kuntz, this is a unit that could be a genuine strength in 2023.

Given how the passing game has evolved in the NFL over the past few decades, it's now become one of the most important positions in football. Douglas, unlike his predecessors, understands this and has brought in not only talented names but great leaders as well.
