In just his second game back after missing over a month of action, NY Jets quarterback Zach Wilson was named Rookie of the Week for his performance in the team's Week 13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

This marks the second time that Wilson has been named Rookie of the Week after he was previously awarded the honor after helping lead the Jets to victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 4.

Wilson finished 23-of-38 for 226 yards, three total touchdowns (two passing), and an interception this past Sunday putting together what might have been the best game of his young NFL career.

Through 13 weeks, Wilson is the only rookie quarterback to be named Rookie of the Week this season. And now, he's won it twice.

Zach Wilson shows signs of significant progress in Week 13

Wilson's rookie season has been somewhat of a rollercoaster, to say the least. The No. 2 overall pick has completed 58 percent of his passes throwing six touchdowns (plus two rushing) against 11 interceptions in eight starts.

In many ways, it's been a typical rookie season. But that's not to say the Jets haven't wanted more out of Wilson at times.

The rookie quarterback has struggled with accuracy and decision-making, oftentimes forcing passes and trying to do too much. That's what made his performance this past Sunday all the more impressive.

As opposed to his standout showing in Week 4, Wilson looked calm and confident in the pocket. He wasn't perfect, but Wilson was as relaxed as he's been all season which is exactly what the Jets had hoped to see from their young signal-caller.

The Jets aren't looking for perfection out of a rookie quarterback, especially with a less-than-stellar supporting cast. They're looking for signs of progress. They're looking for improvement.

Zach Wilson showed exactly that on Sunday. And with five games left in his rookie season, that's all the Jets want to see.

Rookie of the Week is the cherry on top of what was a very productive week for Wilson. Time will tell if he could continue adding to his growing trophy collection.
