It hasn't been an ideal start to the NFL career of Zach Wilson. But with time winding down in the third quarter, the NY Jets rookie quarterback found an open Corey Davis in the corner of the end zone for the touchdown.

Wilson and the Jets were able to make it a one-score game after he took it in for the two-point conversion of a designed quarterback run, cutting the Carolina Panthers' lead to 16-8.

Unfortunately, the moment was bittersweet as left tackle Mekhi Becton was carted off into the locker room on the touchdown.

Nonetheless, Wilson and the Jets capped off an eight-play, 70-yard drive with the first touchdown of Wilson's career. It was a promising result given the difficult start for Wilson and the offense.

Wilson entered Sunday's game looking to make a strong first impression. The second overall pick in this year's draft, Wilson was hand-picked by the Jets to be their franchise quarterback of the future.

The organization opted to start over at the QB position sending Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers and drafting Wilson to be his replacement.

There was plenty of discussion about this being a potential Darnold revenge game. The former Jets quarterback put together a strong first half, but Wilson is looking to close the gap.

No matter what the result of this game is, both the Jets and Panthers will be hoping that their new quarterbacks can help lead them to success in 2021 and beyond.
